ABOUT: the Portraits series

The Portraits series is a series of portraits of Japanese anime figurines. These 5 inch action figures are created by machines and made to mimic human bodies and facial expressions. Despite these figures being made on an assembly line, they feature defects from one another that make them as real and diverse as any human being.

The Plastic Erotica series is a progression from the Portraits series. These subjects are photographed in their various states of manufactured undress providing the viewer a voyeristic glimpse of the models. Blurring, cropping and other methods aid in the inability to distinguish these playthings from real human beings. It is my intend to bring focus to the objectification of females through the use of these mass produced plastic toys which represent our culture's intense obsession with a sexual ideal.

ABOUT: Me

I am fascinated by the human form. Be it real, or tiny plastic sculptures and toys built to look like humans. I find people, and portraits of people, my favorite subjects. I spend my time working on bettering my craft of portrait photography. When I'm not photograping real people, I turn my camera on small scale models, mimicing real peoples movements and glances.

By day, I'm a mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet, and I'm also a professional creative portrait photographer. Clients include New Hampshire Magazine, the Hippo Press, Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire and Americas for the Arts. My photography studio is located in an old Mill building along the Nashua River in Nashua, NH. In 2003 I became represented by McGowan Fine Art. For a while, I served as the Executive Director for City Arts Nashua - a non profit who believes in the importance in keeping art alive in the community. A belief I stand behind. I share my life with someone who loves photography just as much as I do. I also teach a portrait lighting workshop for those looking to add a little extra creativity to their portraits.
